Colombia Host-to-Adopt Pre-Application

The Host-to-Adopt model is a child-centric means by which the Colombian adoption authority prioritizes adoption for older children (ages 10+) who are legally freed for international adoption. Spence-Chapin is accredited by ICBF, Colombia’s adoption authority, to find permanent adoptive families for these children and we’re seeking families for children ages 10-13 years. In order to ensure in-depth preparation and support through the hosting and adoption processes, Spence-Chapin’s Host-to-Adopt Program is open to prospective adoptive families who reside in New York, New Jersey, or Arizona, states where Spence-Chapin is licensed to provide both home study and adoption placement services, and in which our licensed social work staff are available to support you in-person. Families living outside of those states can still adopt from Colombia via our traditional adoption program or our Colombia Heritage adoption program; click here for details regarding those programs.

The Host-to-Adopt Program is open to single applicants as well as married couples and welcomes all members of the LGBTQ+ community.

You do not need a current home study in order to apply – in fact, we will complete your home study in compliance with both hosting and adoption regulations.

If you are interested in participating in the Summer 2026 host-to-adopt program, please fill out the below Pre-Application and a member from our Colombia Adoption Program staff will contact you to speak further about the program and discuss next-steps
